Dainty Dahlias

One of my favorite flowers are the Dahlia. They come in all shapes and sizes … some are as big as your head!

Mostly because they are one of the last flowers to bloom before winter arrives.

Enjoy these Dahlia photos!

Critters Are Abuzz

Lots of bees and butterflies are enjoying the Dahlia at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum.

The Dahlia are in full swing, so stop by if you get a chance. You will definitely have bees and butterflies to keep you company!

Monarch Butterfly

Fun to see a Monarch butterfly while at Tettegouche State Park in Minnesota this summer.

And, more importantly, it was great to see Milkweed plants along the side of the roads. If you’re not aware, Milkweed is a host plant for Monarch butterflies, but sadly the plant is also considered a noxious weed by some people, which means it is often destroyed.

Clouded Sulphur Butterfly

I’ve seen the Clouded Sulpher Butterfly around, but since they are fast and busy I haven’t been able to photograph them.

Here’s one that was still for just a few seconds to let me take its photo while I was at Tettegouche State Park earlier this summer.

An Endangered Rusty-Patched Bumble Bee

The Rusty-Patched Bumble Bee is the first bee species in the U.S. to be listed under the Endangered Species Act.

And, sadly, politics played a role in Rusty-Patched Bumble Bees almost not being added to the list.

Thanks in part to a petition, they were added on March 21, 2017, to the Endangered Species list.

Learn more about how you can help these small and essential creatures.

I was pretty excited to have stumbled across one.

Enjoy the pics!

Happy 4th of July!

Have a safe and enjoyable 4th of July!

The Fireworks #Dahlia is so much better than fireworks and the dahlia don’t scare the animals.
